MS Architectural has a history of excellence. The Municipality of Clarington received the 2019 Ontario Public Works Association Project of the Year award for their Mill Street South transportation improvement project. The OPWA recognized the project for excellent public works management and successful partnerships.
MS Architectural Ltd., with over three decades of landscape design experience since 1988, demonstrated its expertise in creating distinctive, high-quality landscapes that served both functional needs and aesthetic goals.
Approved in 2016, the initiative balanced safety needs with preservation of Bond Head’s historic character. The team improved pedestrian waterfront access while maintaining the area’s rural charm, mature trees, and historic properties.
Extensive community engagement proved crucial to the project’s success. Construction began in 2018, resulting in a 1.5-meter asphalt path along Mill Street’s west side leading to a boardwalk and viewing platform at the waterfront. Traffic calming measures included three speed tables, a three-way stop, and a reduced 40 km/h speed limit.
Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster praised the project:
“The collaboration between staff and residents built relationships and trust, leading to a safe and functional design enjoyed by all.”
